PostHeaderIcon CAUTION: Rant Ahead

Ok, I have an issue and maybe you, my wise readers, can help me out with this one. Please, please, please help me to understand this.

When you bring your own canvas/reusable bags to a store, why does it automatically mean you also must bag your own items???

I’ve been using my own canvas bags to grocery shop for atleast a year now and for the past 6 months or so, I’ve trying to mostly use my own bags for other shopping as well. I keep a small canvas bag in my purse at all times and the rest stay in my car’s trunk, so they’re always with me.

Anyway, just about every single time I’m using my own bags, I am also the one who has to put my purchases into my bags. It’s like the cashiers think they can take a nice break just because I’m not using their wasteful plastic bags.

All I want to know is where’s my paycheck for doing their job?

This especially happens at Target. I get all my canvas bags out, stand them up and open at the end of the checkout lane so that they are all ready and easy to place the items directly into them.

But you know what always happens??? The moron cashier stands there and hands each and every item to me. Or they place the items down NEXT TO THE BAG. Then I have to pick each thing up and put them into the bags.

Does anyone see the logic there????

I am at a loss as to why they feel they can’t bag my items just because I’m using my own bags. Do they realize that by me bringing my own bags, I’m not only helping the environment, but I’m also cutting the costs of their employer? And in turn, making it just a little less likely the store will need to make cutbacks. And maybe it’s just a little less likely that they will be part of those cutbacks???

Of course, this may be a bit of a pain, but I’ll continue using my own bags. A little bit of inconvenience is worth it to avoid the waste of plastic bags.

Has anyone else experienced this bagging issue when you bring your own bags?

PostHeaderIcon Watch Me on Tyra May 29

I’m appearing on the “Free Stuff” segment on The Tyra Banks Show that airs on Friday, May 29. Click on the Friday “Free Stuff” segment and then “Watch Video” to see a short preview. I’m sitting in the middle of the couch, wearing pink (of course). I’m one of four panel members who shares a wide variety of tips with Tyra on how to get things for free. You’ll also hear from some freebie finding audience members, including my friend Wendy of Sweeties Sweeps. I’ll be following-up on my blog with resources for you that you’ll hear mentioned on the show. So don’t worry if you can’t watch the show, I won’t let you miss anything! Find out what time to watch Tyra by selecting your state and looking for your city.

It’s exciting for me to be on national television for the second time. The first time I was featured on Inside Edition last October and re-airing in January. My hope is that more people can benefit from the free resources I talk about and blog about. But my priority is helping my daily blog readers like you. Thanks for reading, and thanks for sharing in the excitement of receiving some attention in a different type of media.
